Internship Program Participant Agreement


This component provides you with valuable professional experience in relation to your academic subject or career goals. The program is designed as a partnership between you and the USGS. The internship combines academic learning in the classroom and hands-on experience in the workplace and provides you with paid work experience in your academic career goals or in your fields of study. A participation agreement is concluded between you and the USGS, which sets out the requirements and expectations. It offers the education and work requirements for your internship and the expected graduation date and office needs. This internship can lead to tenure (or perhaps an appointment of 13 months, but no more than 4 years in total) after successfully completing your training and program requirements.

Employment can range from summer jobs to positions that can last as long as you are a student (in increments of one year or less). The tasks must not concern your academic subject. Internships are available at all levels of students. Students at an accredited college, college (including 4-year colleges/universities and community/junior colleges); vocational, specialized, vocational and commercial schools; advanced programs of study; or any other qualified educational institution that wishes to obtain a qualification diploma or certificate.
